Professor Stephen Hawking warns against first contact with aliens. He claims that aliens will kill humans and take over the world if they do. Hawking believes that aliens are not open to contact with Earthlings and advises humanity to be cautious in making contact. He went on to talk about Gliese 832c which is an extremely hot superEarth that was discovered earlier this year and thought to be capable to host extraterrestrial living. Hawking posits that Alien Contact Is Similar to Columbus’ Native American Meeting.
Hawking believes Earthlings might one day be able to receive signals from another planet. However, they need to be cautious about responding to extraterrestrial communication. He stated that it would be similar to Columbus’ encounter with Native Americans, to see advanced alien life. He also mentioned that the meeting had not been successful. It is possible that alien species could be violent marauders who scour the galaxy looking for new planets to colonize. This could lead to the end of human life on the planet. Professor Hawking already expressed concern about contact with extraterrestrials.
He first spoke on Discovery Channel’s 2010 program about aliens trying to destroy humanity. Hawking also mentioned that climate change has caused temperature rises of up 250 degrees Celsius. Hawking stated that he has come to realize that humans aren’t the only ones in this universe. This is why he is leading an international effort to prove it.
Hawking seems to care about more than just aliens ending life on Earth. Hawking also warns that Earth will become hotter than Venus if climate change is not addressed. He said that Earth would become a “hothouse”, in which humanity wouldn’t be able to survive. Hawking continued to discuss the possibility that President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement will make matters worse. Hawking believes that the Earth is reaching a tipping point and that global climate change will be irreversible. Trump’s policies could push the world over the edge with temperatures reaching 250° Celsius.
Many academics disagreed strongly with Hawking’s assertion that these temperatures wouldn’t occur because it is farther from the Sun than Venus, and has a less carbon dioxide-rich atmosphere than Venus.
